Seiko Watch Corporation is pleased to announce that Major League Baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani has been appointed as global ambassador of the Seiko brand, effective April 2026.
Ohtani has served as a Seiko brand ambassador in Japan since 2016, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the relationship. Over the past decade, he has risen from Japan to the global stage, captivating fans around the world with his unprecedented achievements and extraordinary talent as both a pitcher and a hitter.
Ohtani’s relentless drive to compete at the highest level and his constant pursuit of new heights reflect the Seiko brand’s philosophy of being “Always one step ahead of the rest,” a spirit that has guided the company since its founding in 1881.
By welcoming Ohtani as global ambassador of the Seiko brand, Seiko Watch Corporation aims to further strengthen the international presence of Seiko as a watch brand from Japan. Seiko will continue to stand alongside Ohtani in his ongoing pursuit of excellence.
To mark this new chapter, new promotional videos featuring Ohtani for Seiko Prospex, along with new advertising visuals for Seiko Prospex and King Seiko, will be unveiled on Thursday, April 9.

About Shohei Ohtani

Born in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, in 1994
Selected first overall in the 2012 NPB Draft and joined the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. Gained attention for his two-way role as both pitcher and hitter.
2016: Led the Fighters to the Japan Series championship and was named Pacific League Most Valuable Player.
