PROFILE
Professional karateka & aeronautical engineer, Damián Quintero has gone down in history for becoming the first Spanish karateka to win an silver medal in the individual kata category, in his debut as a discipline in Tokyo 2021. The athlete competed in the final of this originally Japanese sport held in its temple, the Nippon Budokan. After 20 years in the national team, no karateka in the history of Spain equals Damián's track record.
Born in 1984 in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and raised in Spain, he began his professional career at the age of six in a small gym in Torremolinos (Málaga). Since then, Damián has dedicated his life to this sport, being a six-time European champion and a world champion in 2014. As a reward for his effort, Damián became part of the select group of Spanish athletes in 2014 to receive a medal of the Royal Order of Sports Merit.
Values such as perseverance, self-improvement, discipline, respect, humility are Damián's hallmark.
