Seiko Presage Classic Series
Upcycled Leather Strap Limited Edition

Seiko Presage introduces a new classic-inspired wristwatch, drawing inspiration from fine leather shoes.

This creation is the result of an upcycling initiative in which high-quality leather offcuts—originally generated in the shoemaking process—are transformed into elegant watch straps.

The leather is sourced from REGAL, a long-established Japanese shoemaker. By finding new value in the inevitable offcuts produced during shoemaking, the material is reborn in the form of a wristwatch strap.

Blending Seiko’s renowned craftsmanship with a respect for materials, the classic and sustainable creation reflects both tradition and innovation.

A gradient dial inspired by “Shiracha,” a refined colour cherished in the Edo period

The dial features a soft gradient based on Shiracha—a subtle and sophisticated shade of brown admired during the late Edo period, particularly in the Bunsei era, by tea masters and enthusiasts of traditional arts.
Paired with elegant gold-tone indexes and hands, the design ensures excellent legibility while enhancing the warm, classic aesthetic of the watch.

A finely detailed bezel with elegant depth and dimensions

The case features flowing curves that create a warm and refined silhouette. Despite being crafted from metal, it exudes a soft,
organic feel.
The bezel is finished in a rich brown tone and adorned with intricate, three-dimensional detailing, adding a subtle yet sophisticated decorative touch. This quiet elegance enhances the watch’s classic presence with a sense of composed refinement.

An upcycled leather strap inspired by loafers

This model features an upcycled leather strap, crafted from carefully selected surplus leather and offcuts resulting from the shoe production process. By giving new life to these materials, the design embraces both sustainability and craftsmanship.
Taking inspiration from REGAL’s signature loafers, the strap reflects the refined, sculpted contours of premium leather shoes. Beige decorative stitching near the case adds a tasteful accent, reminiscent of traditional shoemaking details.
Please note: As natural leather varies slightly depending on the part used, the strap colour may differ from product images.

About Upcycling

Upcycling is the process of transforming materials that would otherwise be discarded into new products of higher value through thoughtful design and creativity. Unlike simple reuse, upcycling elevates materials into entirely new items with unique appeal, offering both sustainability and originality.

Our Commitment to Upcycled Leather

The leather used in this creation comes from REGAL,
a well-known Japanese shoemaker. In shoemaking,
leather patterns must be cut from large pieces to avoid imperfections, which inevitably leads to material waste.

Seiko has found new value in leather that would typically be discarded and given it new life as beautifully crafted watch straps through upcycling.

Leather offcuts from shoemaking are reborn as watch straps— giving new life to quality materials that would otherwise go to waste.

Leather resulting from the shoemaking process takes on a new life—
as a fine wristwatch strap.
A watch that brings together classic design and sustainable craftsmanship.
