- Grand Seiko Wing
As visitors come up the escalator at the back of Hall 1.0, they are greeted by a wide 'square' with flowers and seating areas, behind which they see the Grand Seiko wing of the Seiko Pavilion. Never before has Grand Seiko been presented with such prominence at Baselworld, a fact that has been one of the talking points of the fair so far.
The Grand Seiko wing is constructed from black stones, which are set horizontally and exude a quiet dignity.
Each window features a different caliber of Grand Seiko; 9F, 9R and 9S. In addition, there are pictures of the manufacturing of Grand Seiko in the fine watchmaking studios of Shizuku-ishi and Shinshu watchmaking in Japan.
In the center showcase, the beauty of Grand Seiko is exhibited. The sparkling cases, markers and hands are displayed as artistic objects, which is indeed what they are. The display is inspired by a Japanese Karesansui, or landscaped rock garden.
