The new Sportura collection for women.
March 11, 2012
The new Sportura women chronograph collection is launched this week at Baselworld. The star model features white ceramic highlights on the bezel and bracelet, eight diamonds and mother of pearl on the dial.
This and other new Sportura models for women are displayed in a showcase alongside an image and a film showing the new face of Seiko’s women’s collection, Darya Klishina, the 21 year old rising star of women’s athletics.
Seiko first met Darya when she won gold at the IAAF World Youth Championship in 2007 where Seiko was the official timer. From that moment on, we believed that she was destined for greatness and we were delighted when she agreed to work with us earlier this year. As fate would have it, her first appearance in our Sportura communication co-incided with the World indoor Championships in Istanbul and , on Sunday March 11, Darya’s career took another leap forward as she came fourth in a truly high class event in Istanbul. She was edged off the podium by two Americans and an English athlete who, between them, set four national records and a season’s best during the competition! Despite just missing out on a medal, Darya has no reason to be disappointed. This fourth place marks another step up in her young senior career. After seventh in last year’s World Championships, fourth in Istanbul is a great achievement and we are sure that there is more to come. Maybe her new Sportura chronograph will help!
