SEIKO unveil two important innovations at the 2007 Baselworld exhibition.

At a packed press conference on Thursday, April 12, SEIKO Watch Corporation unveiled two important new products to the world’s media, the new marine collection named Velatura and the long-anticipated Spring Drive Chronograph.

In his opening address, Mr. Shinji Hattori, President and CEO of SEIKO Watch Corporation, described how both of these innovations were born of SEIKO’s vision of Innovation and Refinement.

He said, "To be innovative without refinement is easy. To be refined but unexciting is not the SEIKO way. We enjoy the challenge of being both innovative and refined and the products we are launching today express our vision of Innovation and Refinement."

SEIKO presented no less than three new calibres. The new Spring Drive chronograph is the highlight, but, in the Velatura marine collection, a new Yachting Timer was presented alongside a new Kinetic movement, called Kinetic Direct Drive. All three new calibers are born of SEIKO's pursuit of what Mr. Hattori expressed as "Emotional Technology", watch movements that allow the wearer to interact more closely with their timepiece.

The new marine collection, Velatura, has been greeted with wide praise from the visitors to the SEIKO pavilion at Baselworld where it enjoys pride of place, presented against the backdrop of a dramatic water wall.

The Baselworld exhibition runs until Thursday, April 19.
