Basel is located in North Western Switzerland
and borders France and Germany. It is a city with nearly 200,000
people and 2,000 years of history.
Basel is an industrial center and has long been the site of major
trade fairs. The Watch and Jewelry Show is one of the most famous
fairs held in the region.

The city is also known for the oldest university
in Switzerland (Basel University, established in 1460) , and famed
as a center of the humanist movement, literature and art. There
are many historical buildings, and many art and music events are
held through out year.
Cyclists will feel home in Basel. They can not only explore the
area freely on the Three-Countries cycle routes but also carry
their bikes with them on trains.
